Review: Ilsa - She Wolf of the S.S.

I have yet to understand why Anchor Bay had to let this gem go out of print. Ilsa: She Wolf of the S.S. is the film that made the Nazisploitation genre popular, and after watching the movie, I can understand why. The movie follows Commodore Ilsa, as she runs an experiment camp where she tries to prove that men are the inferior race. The main way that she tries to prove this theory is by showing that women can withstand more pain than men can, and that a mans biggest weakness is sex. The first scene of the movie is a sex scene with Ilsa and one of the prisoners, and of course the prisoner finishes too early and does not please Ilsa, so what does she do? She castrates him. This leads to a subplot where Ilsa starts to have an affair with one of the Prisoners, who can actually control when he cums, and pleases Ilsa. While this is going on, Ilsa is focusing on torturing one of the Female prisoners who is Withstanding the "experiments" better than any of the others.
Ok, I admit the plot is pretty dumb, but the movies pretty damn entertaining. Ilsa is pretty fucking insane in the movie, but is incredibly calm throughout the movie. Her character is just so much fun to follow. Plus shes pretty nice to look at, Dyanne Thorne does not dissapoint! Though the movie is entertaining, there are some scenes that are unnecessary and do get on my nerves, the "pissing fetish scene" that comes later in the film is pretty unnecessary. The acting gets pretty horrendous, but that's usually expected with these types of films, and it's not so bad that it gets on my nerves. There are also scenes where the actors are just directed badly. For instance two Nazis walk up to Ilsa, while it looks like they're acting their asses off, Ilsa turns around like she's sleepwalking through the scene. In different parts in the film Ilsa is acting her ass off.
But overall I would recommend this movie if you're looking for a campy exploitation film. This isn't a movie to take seriously, it's stupid but fun. Overall I would rate it at a 6/10, if you can find this check it out. It's currently OOP in America, but there's a Korean disc that is all over Ebay, the only thing is that all below the belt shots are cut off. If that bothers you then just find it on bootleg. I'm hoping Shriek Show or Blue Underground picks the rights up sometime in the future.
